Frederick H. McDonald, age 86, of Fremont passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014, surrounded by his family. Ted was born on May 10, 1928 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Sherman and Mary Isabel (Straight) McDonald and married Joan Betty DeVries on June 2, 1952, in Grand Rapids. He was a real estate developer and had also worked as an insurance adjuster. Ted enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Joan and Dave and Betty DeVries. He was happiest sharing time with family and friends. Ted cherished his days living on Crystal Lake and attended the Church of the Living Christ in Fremont. Ted is survived by his loving wife Joan; children, Curtis McDonald of Boulder, CO., Christine (David) Hackem of West Boomfield, MI., Cathleen (Ronald) Sompels of Oldsmar, FL., and Craig (Lisa) McDonald of San Mateo, CA.; seven grandchildren, Andrew (Nissa), Eric (Katie), Steven, Kelsey, Kevin, Claire, and Charlotte; one great grandchild, due in November; and sister, Elizabeth Suzanne Henzie. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert and sister, Marilyn. A memorial service for Ted will be held at 12 noon on Friday, September 19, 2014, at the Church of the Living Christ in Fremont with Rev. Dr. Tom Jasperse officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service (11 12) at the Church.
