Obituary

Gale Lee Sherman, age 89 of Hesperia, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Gale was born on May 9, 1921 in Dayton Center to Edgar Earl and Maude May (Messner) Sherman and graduated from Fremont High School in 1939. Gale married Elaine M. Palm on October 4, 1946 at the Fremont United Methodist Church. Gale has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont and Hesperia area where he had been a dairy farmer all his life, raising Jersey cattle. He was a member of the N & O Friendship Farm Bureau, had been a member of the 4H Council and was the auditor of the financial records for many years, had been a member of the Jersey Cattle Club, was a active member of the Hesperia United Methodist Church where he served on various church boards, had served on the Class of 1939 Reunion committee, and had served on the McCallum School Board. SURVIVORS : his wife of 64 years, Elaine of Hesperia; his children, Larry (Jean) Sherman of Fremont; Nancy (Peter) Walzer of Hesperia; Bruce (Rosie) Sherman of Hesperia; his grandchildren, Katie (Marcus) Sabo; Mark Sherman; Mariah Walzer; Melodee Sherman; John Sherman; Sabrina Sherman. Preceded in death by his brothers, Glen Sherman, Graydon Sherman, Gerald Sherman, and infant brother, Gordon Sherman. VISITATION : Friday (TODAY) from 5-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday at 1:30pm at the Hesperia United Methodist Church. INTERMENT : Jewell Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Hesperia United Methodist Church.
