Gary Phelps Rossett Jr., age 78, of Newaygo passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at home. Gary was born on February 3, 1944, in Grand Rapids to Gary P. and Katherine (Bono) Rossett Sr. and married Kansas Kathryn Williams on March 13, 1993. Gary was a supervisor for the United States Postal Service and served in the United States Air Force and United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed wood working and working on the farm. Gary attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo and was a life member of the Newaygo VFW Post #4249. Gary is survived by his children, Melonie (Kevin) Ressler of White Cloud, Gary P. Rossett III of Florida, and Steven Rossett of Newaygo; step-children, Jennifer (Darryl) Klok of Grand Rapids and Tim (Tami) Brander of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Liz (Myron) Toppel, Shawna (Justin) Morgan, Zane Rossett, Logan Rossett, Antonio Ribbens, and Katherine Klok; step-grandchildren, Gage (Nicole) Klok, David (Micquaya) Block, Cory Cooke, Jacob (Paige) Klok, JJ Brander, and Allen Brander; many great grandchildren; brother and sisters, Thomas (Mary) Rossett, Luella (Raymond) Mikulski, Carolyn Fallin, and MaryKay (Tom) Steffes-Schmitz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kansas; brothers-in-law, Harold Fields and Bernard Fallin; and nephew, Caleb Fields. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 29, 2022, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo with Father Peter Schafer officiating.
