Gaynor Pauline Mahoney, age 88 of Grant, formerly of Lakeside and Twin Lake, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Mercy Health Partners – Sherman Campus in Muskegon. Gaynor was born on March 17, 1932 in Big Rapids to Lawrence and Alice (Moore) O'Neil and graduated from Big Rapids High School. She later met and married Donald Mahoney on June 7, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Rapids. Gaynor has been a homemaker all her life and had lived in the Lakeside area, later in Twin Lake and moved to Grant in 1993. Gaynor enjoyed boating and water skiing in her younger years, snowmobiling, feeding the birds and the Michigan outdoors and also enjoyed working in her yard and flower garden. She was a devote Catholic and member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Brunswick. Gaynor has left many memories to her family to cherish and enjoyed taking care of her husband, children and family. She had music and dance in her soul and enjoyed playing the organ, a love she passed onto her children and grandchildren. She will be well remembered as a devoted and faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Gaynor is survived by her husband of 68 years, Donald of Grant; her children, Colleen (Greg) Fraser; Karen (Bill) Griswold; Carol (David) Dostert; Kathy (Mike) Patterson; Larry (Kim) Mahoney; Theresa (Nick Paschal) Trevino; Gary (Lisa) Mahoney; Lisa (Brian) Frederick; 25 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; her sisters and brothers, Edwin (Joanne) O'Neil; Virginia (Joe) Moore; Lois (Gerald) Smith; Lavonne Kline; Donnie (Doris) O'Neil; Christine Smith; Donna Chandler; many nieces and nephews. Gaynor was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Corinne Wallace, her sisters, Dora Lynn Strom; Helen Koryikoski, Mary Gibson, Diane Leggitt, Celeste Kennedy; her brother, Albert O'Neil.
PRIVATE GRAVSIDE SERVICES : Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Brunswick. MASS OF RESURRECTION : Monday, June 28, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Michael Catholic Church in Brunswick.
