Gene "Butch" A. Thumser, age 67 of Fremont, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 at his home. Butch was born on October 7, 1955 in Fremont to Louis E. and Barbara J. (Castle) Thumser and graduated from Fremont High School in 1973. Butch has been a longtime resident of the area where he worked at Sealed Power in Muskegon for over 30 years until his retirement in 2007. Butch enjoyed hunting, fishing, morel mushroom hunting, being in the Michigan Outdoors, tinkering in his garage and working on Wheel Horse tractors, and had enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger years Butch is survived by his daughter, Morgan Jean Thumser of Gladstone, Michigan; son, BJ (Danielle) Thumser of Sand Lake; daughter, Rachael Lea Thumser; grandson, Riley Thumser of Byron Center; his mother, Barbara Thumser of Fremont; his sisters, Marcia Kay Pierce of Fremont; Debra (Gary) Pell of Fremont; his nieces and nephew, Eric (Sue) Pell of Howard City; Kristine (Jarek) Kendziorski of Fremont; Kari (Dave) Mercer of Fremont. Butch was preceded in death by his father, Louis E. Thumser on September 1, 2006 and his nephew Brian Pell on February 6, 2005. Following his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held. Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
