Obituary

Anderson, George George Anderson, age 96 of Montague, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont following a long illness with dementia. George was born on June 19, 1910 in Glasgow, Scotland to James and Agnes (Crawford) Anderson and immigrated to the United States from Scotland in 1928 and graduated from Kipper Hill School in Glasgow, Scotland. He met and married Louise Mylett on January 18, 1930 in Kearny, New Jersey and Louise passed away in 1971. George had lived in New Jersey for many years where he had been a foreman and supervisor for Worthington Pumps for 40 years until his first retirement and then started work at the United States Post Office in Harrison, New Jersey for 10 years until the age of 75. George moved to the Montague area in 2000 and was affiliated with the Rothbury Community Church. George enjoyed reading, singing and music, was a generous man who was known as a country gentleman. He was always fun loving and always maintained a good sense of humor. George was also a walking enthusiast who walked 5 miles a day well into his 80s. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Priscilla Anderson of Montague; grand daughters, Colleen (Brad) Weesies of Montague; Jamie (Dale) Oosterhart of Nunica; 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; 2 sons, Terrance and George Anderson; 7 brothers and sisters.
