George W. Carson, age 79 of Rothbury, formerly of Hesperia, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 21, 2015. George was born on December 19, 1935 in Hesperia to George and Gertrude (Roberson) Carson and married Lillian Howe on June 22, 1957 in Twin Lake. George has been a lifelong resident of the area where he had worked at Gerber Products Company, later worked as a diesel mechanic at A&C Carriers in Muskegon and then worked as a school bus driver for the Hesperia Public Schools for several years until his retirement. George was an avid bowler, bowling a 300 in his lifetime and bowling in many national tournaments; enjoyed playing cards, playing volleyball and softball; enjoyed reading and ran the horseshoe tournament in Hesperia for many years. George especially truly treasured the time spent with his grandchildren and adored his wife, Lillian. George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lillian of Rothbury; his children, Dawn Carson of Fremont; Diane (Keith) Humetewa of Sun City, Arizona; Doug (Colleen) Carson of Manistee; Bill (Sandy) Carson of Muskegon; 24 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Ruth (Richard) Scarbrough of Fremont; Norman (Joan) Carson of Fremont; Kit Carson of Fremont; Ivan (Alice) Carson of Hesperia; many nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his great grandson, Jonathan Wesley; his sisters and brothers, Fred, Charlie, Marvin, Clair, John, Calvin, James, Betty, Aileen, and Virginia. VISITATION : Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with a short time of remembrance at 7pm at the Crandell Funeral Home (7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412). Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Local Animal Shelter Support, Inc. (L.A.S.S.I.) of Oceana County for memorial contributions in memory of George
