Fowler, George A. George A. Fowler, age 79 of Holton, formerly of Grand Haven, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont . He was born on September 6, 1923 in Muskegon Heights to Raymond and Maude (DeCoster) Fowler and later married his wife, Glenna. Glenna preceded him in death. He moved to the Acker Lake area in 1998 from Grand Haven. He had worked as an assistant manager at the Muskegon Airport , later owned and operated several gas stations and retired from the Mercy Hospital where he was a maintenance technician. He was a veteran of World War II and had received the Purple Heart of Valor Medal while serving in the United States Army. He was a member of the V.F.W Post 3195; American Legion Post #411; Moose Lodge #491 in Muskegon ; Elks Lodge #1200 in Grand Haven. He is survived by his children, Vicki A. Fowler of Costa Mesa, California; Phillip (Luann) Fowler of Spring Lake; Blair (Sandra) Fowler of Grand Haven; Dale (Julia) Fowler of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Carolynne (Doug) Glover of Grand Haven; Shelley (Steve) Strazanac of Grand Haven; Kelly (Mark) Lawburgh of Spring Lake; special friend, Naomi Gerrans of Fremont; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Beverly Leatherman of Seattle, Washington; Dorothy Green of Elcentro, California. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Harold, Raymond, Howard and sister, Hazel Mae. Military graveside services were held on Saturday, November 9, 2002 at 2 PM at the Bridgeton Township Cemetery . Friends may consider the Disabled American Veterans for memorial contributions.
