Gerald A. Jerry Taylor, age 75 of Newaygo, formerly of White Cloud, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus in Grand Rapids. Jerry was born on October 20, 1935 in Grand Rapids to Clarence and Elizabeth (Koppelman) Taylor and moved to the White Cloud area in the mid 1970s from Grand Rapids. Jerry married Marcella C. Herin on March 24, 1978. Marcella preceded him in death on May 16, 1996. Jerry had been a manager at several manufacturing facilities in the area for many years until his retirement in 1988 from J.S.J Corporation. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served during the Korean War. Jerry had enjoyed golfing, gaming, traveling, hunting in his younger years, and working in his yard. Jerry was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church. Jerry is survived by his children, Julie Chobod of Morley; Cathy Alexander of Rhode Island; Jenny Warren of Hesperia; Faith Balke of Hesperia; Jeff (Cheryl) Taylor of Big Rapids; Ada (Rick) Shaw of Vancouver, Washington; Jodi Goll of San Diego, California; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Taylor. Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 3pm at the White Cloud United Methodist Church with a visitation 1 hour prior to the services at the church with interment in the Sherman Township Cemetery. Friends may consider the American Cancer Society for memorial contributions in memory of Jerry.
