Gerald John Dummer, a devoted family man, skilled accountant, and passionate outdoorsman, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in Stanwood, Michigan. Born on Sunday, November 13, 1938, Gerald filled his days with love, dedication, and resilience throughout his 85 years.
Gerald's professional life as an accountant showcased his meticulous nature and reliable character, qualities that brought stability to his family and earned him respect among his peers. A proud graduate active in organizing events for Fremont High School reunions, Gerald maintained lifelong connections and cherished the friendships he cultivated over the years.
Gerald's passion for woodworking, hunting, and fishing allowed him to appreciate the beauty of nature and the satisfaction of craftsmanship. An avid researcher of family lineage, he valued his roots and took great pride in building enduring memories for future generations.
Family was at the heart of Gerald's existence. He is survived by his loving children: Adrienne Dummer of Troy, MI; Catherine (Mark) McRae of New Orleans, LA; and Eric (Kellie) Dummer of Livonia, MI. Also holding a special place in Gerald's heart were his siblings, Barbara Dummer of Fremont, MI, and Dale (Dianna) Dummer of Lansing, MI. His cherished legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Austin McRae, Ashlyn (Mitchell) Huang, Colby Dummer, and Paige Dummer, and his great-granddaughter, Meilyn Huang. Gerald was fondly adored by many nieces and nephews who complete the close-knit tapestry of his large family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Sue (Szor) Dummer; his parents, Walter Ernest Dummer and Helen Frances (Mucha) Dummer; and his siblings, Mary Ann Perkins, Jean Orshal, Walter Dummer, Allen Dummer, and Jim Dummer.
A visitation to celebrate Gerald's life will be held at Crandell Funeral Homes Inc, Fremont, MI on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and again on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, officiated by Sadie Kaminski, with interment taking place at All Saints Mount Calvary Cemetery in Fremont, MI at noon.
The family invites those who wish to express their sympathy to contribute in Gerald's name to a charity of their choice.
Gerald's presence graced those who knew him with warmth, wisdom, and kindness. His memory will remain a guiding light in the lives of all who were lucky enough to share in his story.
