Gerald "Jerry" O. Sherman, age 77 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Jerry was born on April 17, 1942 in Muskegon to Ovid and Ruth Irene (Gale) Sherman and later married Pat L. Way on April 10, 1959 in Muskegon. Jerry moved to the Fremont area in 1979 from Ravenna and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fremont. Jerry had been a carpenter and hog farmer most of his life and had also been a truck driver at the Newaygo County Road Commission until his retirement. Jerry enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching baseball and football, was a Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed hunting and bowling in his younger years. Jerry especially treasured the time he spent watching his grandchildren's school sports and school activities. Jerry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat of Fremont; his sons and their families – Mark & Coral Sherman of Ada and their children, Brent (Nicole) Sherman; Ashley (Josh) Alderink; Trevor (fiancé, Jessica Warren) Sherman; Kayla (Tim) Elmer; Zachary Sherman; Mack Sherman; son – Dave (Penny) Sherman of Ravenna and their children, Adam (Kyleigh) Sherman; Abby (Brian) Luce; Aaron (Jennifer) Sherman; son – Scott (Sara) Sherman of Fremont and their sons, Nathan Sherman; Carter Sherman; Flynn Sherman; his brother, Jim (Wanda) Sherman of Fremont; his sister Margie (Ken) Sipe of Norton Shores; sister-in-law, Joan Sherman of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Sherman. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES : Friday, June 14, 2019 at 12pm at the First Baptist Church in Fremont. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery.
