Gerald C. Walker, age 71 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Gerald was born on November 20, 1945 in Muskegon to James and Pearl (Smith) Walker and graduated from Fremont High School in 1964. Gerald soon joined the United States Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War and met his wife, Sinh Thi Nguyen and they were married on September 9, 1967 in Saigon. After Gerald's military commitment, he settled back in Fremont and started work at Shaw Walker, which later became Knoll, in Muskegon for 31 years until his retirement. Gerald enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving the country roads and 2 tracks in the area, morel mushroom hunting in the spring, hobby farming and taking care of his animals. Gerald especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sinh; his children, Tom (Susie) Walker of Oakwood, Georgia; Linda Schultz of Clarksburg, Maryland; Darren (Lisa) Walker of Fremont; his grandchildren, Troy, Kaitlynn, Jennifer, Stephanie, Taylor, Addison, Alexandra, Alexander, Jazzlyn; his great grandchildren, Paislynn, Jack, Tripp, and Carter; his brothers and sisters, Frank (Nancy) Walker of Cotati, California; Robert Walker of Poteau, Oklahoma; Helen (Joe) Cipolla of Hesperia; Carol (Doug) Jarvis of Montague; David (Judith) Walker of Traverse City; Steve (Theresa) Walker of Fremont; Mark Walker of Kent City; Richard (Devvy) Walker of Greenville, South Carolina; Dennis (Diane) Walker of Fremont; many nieces and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by his brothers, James Walker; Charles Walker; Norman Walker.

FUNERAL SERVICES with MILITARY RITES : Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Jewell Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Spectrum Health Foundation for the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital or Wounded Warrior Program.
