Gerritt H. Hartger, age 88 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Gerritt was born on July 3, 1914 in Reeman, Michigan to Henry G. and Cornelia (Deur) Hartger and married Nellie Homan on May 17, 1952 in Fremont. Nellie preceded him in death on September 12, 1998. He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a Corporal Medical Technician in the Air Force and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Fremont. Gerritt is survived by his children, Cindy May Hartger of Grand Rapids, Henry Jay (Connie) Hartger of Fremont; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his sister, Connie (Kenneth) VankBuskirk of Fremont; his brothers, Stanley (Arlene) Hartger of Fremont; Bill Hartger and special friend Shirley Buter of Fremont; sister-in-law, Beatrice Hartger of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy DeWitt, Mildred Shoup, and brother, George Hartger. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 22, 2003 from the First Reformed Church in Fremont with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
