Gilbert Petty, age 74 of Hesperia passed away Thursday, February 8, 2001, in Grand Rapids. He was born on May 2, 1926, in Besmer Alabama, to Thomas and Classie (Pippins) Petty. He retired from Cambell Wyant Cannon after 32 years and was a veteran of WWII. He is survived by his children Lori (Randy) Petty of Grand Rapids, grandchildren Aleta and Leanna; Patricia (William) Gore of Mississippi and their children; several step-children; many more grand and great-grandchildren; brother William (Jean) Petty of Missouri; sister Irene Jennings of Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and special loved one Wanda Lee. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 17, 2001, at 12:00 p.m. at the Peoples Baptist Church in White Cloud with Rev. Jeffrey Murchison presiding.
