Gladys L. Wilks, age 94 of Holton, passed away Wednesday evening, January 16, 2013 at the Hillcrest Nursing Center in North Muskegon. Gladys was born on June 29, 1918 in Holton to William and Emma (Anderson) Swenson and has been a lifelong resident of the Holton area. Gladys married Vernard Vern Wilks on June 30, 1939 in Holton and Vern preceded her in death on January 22, 2005. Gladys had been a homemaker and a longtime member of the Holton Evangelical Lutheran Church. Gladys had enjoyed reading, gardening, watching and feeding the birds, camping and was known for her great cooking. Gladys is survived by her children, Gene (Claudia) Wilks of Scottville; Kaye (William) Smith of West Olive; Wes (Lynn) Wilks of Bay City; Lori (Michael) Hiles of Holton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by her son, Gary; her grand daughters, Erica Wilks and Tami Anible; and her sisters, Lee and Marge. VISITATION : Saturday 3-5pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 3pm at the Holton Evangelical Lutheran Church. INTERMENT : Holton Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
