Glen Thomas Rizley, 89, of Muskegon, lover of nature, voracious reader and proud father of four died April 10 at Harbor Hospice Poppen House. He was born December 12, 1928, in Dyersburg, TN to Lonnie and Dennie Rizley. In 1959, he moved from Chicago to Twin Lake to become caretaker of Majors Corporation's Green Acres, retiring after 20 years. He later worked at Bultema Dock and Dredge, Riegler Well Drilling, Sears and Irwin Seating. He was a jack of all trades and master of many who could fix anything. Glen served as a trustee on the Holton Board of Education and coached his son's youth baseball teams in Holton, making a lasting impression on many young men. He enjoyed traveling, watching the Tigers, dancing and an occasional gin and tonic. He especially relished time with his children and grandchildren and hunting. Throughout adulthood he continued his childhood passion of watching vintage cowboy movies. He was a man of good humor.
Glen was preceded in death by his brother, Roy; three sisters, Letha, Lois, and Frances and a grandson Wayne T. Rizley Jr. Surviving are his children Wayne (Dawn), of Laketon Township; Craig (Bonnie) of Holton; Kathy (Don) Knight of Mesquite NV; and Karen (Dan) Mogdics, of Laketon Township; their mother, Jean Biggart of Muskegon; eight grandchildren, Angela Grant, Nicole Rizley, Brent and Lance Mogdics, Kurt Rizley, Shannon Davis, Amy Tetzner, and Katie Peek; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family extends gratitude to special caregivers Jackie and Arlette.
