Gordon "Buck" R. Sharp, age 87 of Newaygo, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Gordon was born on June 28, 1928 in Grand Rapids to Roy J. and Zola (Harrington) Sharp and later married Delores Dee Etzkorn on April 19, 1958, in Newaygo and has been a lifelong resident of the Newaygo area. Gordon had been a supervisor at General Motors Plant #2 in Grand Rapids for over 35 years until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed many sports. Gordon and Dee cherished their time wintering at Jet Trailer Park in Palmetto, Florida. Gordon was a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Croton American Legion Post # 381. Gordon is survived by his wife, Delores of Newaygo; his children, Alan (Pamela) Sharp of Newaygo, David Sharp of Grant, and Rachel (Joseph) Gibbons of Texas; his son-in-law, Larry Banacka of Texas; 11 grandchildren, Steven (Dawn) Sharp of Howard City, Michael (fiance Alicia) Sharp of Newaygo, Jim (fiance Leanne) Sharp of Colorado, Lance Sharp of Grand Rapids, Asia (Thomas) Salazar of Texas, Joshua (fiance Jessica) Gibbons of Texas, Anna (Brian) Torres of Texas, Christopher Banacka of Texas, Nicole (Fred) Banacka of Texas, Daniel Banacka of Texas, and Rachael Banacka of Texas; 8 great grandchildren, Myra Sharp, Liberty Sharp, Kaylee Sharp, Adeline Sharp, Thomas Salazar, Charlotte Salazar, Aliyah Torres, and Joshua Gibbons Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends and loved ones. Gordon was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Banacka; 3 brothers, Harold, Leonard, and Max; and his father and mother, Roy and Zola. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015, from 5 - 8 pm at the Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel - 7193 W 48th Street Fremont. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with interment in Newaygo Cemetery.
