" Gwendolyn "Gwen" M. Brahic, age 97, passed away on Thursday, February 05, 2015 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont, Michigan. Gwen was born on November 7, 1917 in Oak Park, Illinois to Christopher T. and May Ruth (Thomas) Stott. She met her first husband, Herbert Watson, in 1945 and moved with him to California after his service in the Korean War. She had two daughters with Herb named Vivian and Beverly Watson. Gwendolyn later married Charles Chuck Brahic. Both Herb and Chuck preceded her in death. Gwendolyn worked in the telecom industry for 30 years and was a vice president for Verizon in the route directions department for several years until her retirement. She and Chuck lived in Placerville, California for many years at their home known as Magic Place. She spent a few years at the Gold Country retirement home in town before moving to Hesperia, Michigan in 2007. Gwendolyn was a singer, a poet, and an all-around wordsmith. She was a prolific writer of songs and poetry, some of which won awards. She was a master Scrabble and crossword player and was always trying to improve her vocabulary. Gwen also enjoyed gardening and canning and freezing the vegetables from her garden as well as learning new languages and spending time with her family whom she loved very much. Gwendolyn is survived by her daughters, Beverly J. Watson of Holdenville, Oklahoma; Vivian L. Watson of Placerville, California; her grandson, Jason J. Wakeham; her great granddaughter, Jena Walden Lueking; and two great-great-granddaughters, Mattilyn & Isabelle. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Erica Walden.
