Genevieve "Genny" Cooper, age 90 of Newaygo, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Genny was born on December 20, 1926, in Garfield Township to Willard and Mary Harriet "Hattie" (Garfield) Stevens and graduated from Newaygo High School in 1945. Genny married Thomas Cooper on September 30, 1955, in Newaygo and Tom preceded her in death on April 5, 1994. Genny has been a lifelong resident of the Newaygo area where she was a member of the Newaygo United Church of Christ. Genny and Tom had owned and operated Cooper's Inn on Pickerel Lake for many years until their retirement and had managed hotels in Florida and Tennessee. Genny enjoyed attending bazaars, her animals, and socializing with friends. Genny was well known for her quick witted personality.

Genny is survived by a special friends, Linda Andrejczak and Jenny Danials; her nieces, Julie Fosnaugh and Tracy Stevens; and nephew, Steven Stevens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom on April 5, 1994; her sisters, Mary Louise Sherwood and Norma Grove; her nephews, Brian Fosnaugh in 2016, and Brett Fosnaugh in 1969.

MEMORIAL SERVICES : Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 11AM at the Newaygo United Church of Christ with Pastor Jonathan Riedel presiding. INTERMENT : Newaygo Cemetery.
