May, H. Jack Harold Jack May, age 76 of Grant, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005 at his home following a short illness. Jack was born on January 29, 1929 in Lansing, Michigan to Alvan and Bernice (Aseltine) May and later married Virginia Lee (Isenhart) Nelson and she preceded him in death on March 8, 1999. Jack has been a lifelong resident of the area where he was a pattern maker for Rapid Pattern in Grand Rapids until his retirement in 1985. Jack enjoyed crossword puzzles, was an avid cribbage player, played in the Old Timers Golfing League at Village Green, enjoyed traveling with his wife Virginia and with his grandchildren throughout the United States and enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling. Jack also served in the Michigan National Gaurd. He is survived by his children, Roger May of Newaygo; Cindy Taylor of Remis; Candi (Steve) Bumstead of Grand Haven; Ron (Ann) May of Grant; Karen (Marty) Calkins of White Cloud; Connie May of Fremont; Bruce (Deb) Nelson of Grant; Laura Montney of Grant; 24 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, David Nelson on April 20, 2001; by his brother, Alvan Lyle May on June 16, 1972 and by his sister, Helen. Funeral memorial services were held on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at 2pm from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with interment on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 10am in the Bridgeton Township Cemetery. Friends may consider the Muskegon-Oceana County Hospice for the Poppin House Resident Home for memorial contributions in memory of Jack..
