Harold Wayne Bevans, age 88 of Muskegon, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at his home. Wayne was born on August 16, 1932 in Scottville, Michigan to Harold E. and Muriel L. (Parker) Bevans and later moved to Hesperia where he graduated from Hesperia High School in 1950. Wayne joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduation and served 4 years during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. Wayne returned to the Muskegon area and later met and married Jeanie Doyle on October 30, 1969 in Muskegon. Wayne has been a longtime resident of the Muskegon area and had worked as an engineer at GTE Telephone Company which has now become Verizon, for 35 years until his retirement. Wayne was a member of the VFW, enjoyed camping, making fishing lures, woodworking and fishing as much as he could. Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanie of Muskegon; his children, Paula (Ken) Gilbert of Ravenna; Debra (James) Roy of Twin Lake; Donna (James) Plouhar of Twin Lake; Cindy (Chuck) Millis of Muskegon; Bruce (Lena) Bevans of Lowell; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Jean Bogue of Muskegon; James (Janet) Bevans of Muskegon; Roger (Diane) Bevans of Whitehall; Mary Vredaveld of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews. VISITATION : Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412 with MILITARY HONORS and FUNERAL SERVICES at 2:00 p.m. at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. NOTE : during the visitation, a limited number of people will be permitted into the funeral home and friends will need to rotate in and out of the funeral home during the visitation with face coverings being required. Friends may also listen live to the Funeral Services via radio broadcasting by tuning their radio to 99.9 while parked in the funeral home parking lot starting 5 minutes prior to the services starting. Family and friends not able to attend the visitation and funeral services may attend the visitation and watch the funeral services via Zoom and will need to contact the family for the Zoom link information prior to the visitation.
