Harold D. Harmon, age 76 of Newaygo, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008 at his home following a short illness. Harold was born on April 3, 1932 in Breman, Ohio to Charles and Edna (Brown) Harmon and met and later married Ada Ruth Kern on March 31, 1951 in Lancaster, Ohio. Ada preceded him in death on December 6, 2005. Harold moved to the Grandville area in 1955 from Bremen and later moved to the Hardy Dam area in 1966 where he built his home and eventually retired. Harold had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Velding Contracting in Grand Rapids until his retirement in 1992 and then became a self employed contractor for several years. Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood carving. He is survived by his children, Mary Jo Richardson of Newaygo; Ron (Carol) Harmon of Newaygo; Deb (Buzz) Jacobson of Freesoil; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Tom (Polly) Harmon; John (Linda) Harmon; Rocky (Ina) Harmon; Marilyn (Harold) Hockmon; Rose (Mike) Imler; Marcella (Paul) Imler List all of Ohio; several nieces and nephews. VISITATION : Saturday from 1-4pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. INTERMENT : Goodwell Township Cemetery.
