Obituary

Harold Howie Howarth, 83, passed away at his home near Acker Lake February 20, 2011 as a result of congestive heart failure. Howie was born in Fremont February 9, 1928 to George and Frances (Martin) Howarth and on June 23, 1956 he wed Lynnie Lue Ashcroft in Fremont. She preceded him in death by a scant five hours. Harold had served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of IBEW Local 876, and had worked as a journeyman lineman, well respected by his peers. Harold was an outdoorsman with a well-honed talent for trapping fur animals. He is survived by a son, Calvin and a daughter, Gail, both of Holton. He also leaves behind his sister, Pauline Demmon of Fremont, and brother Don (Ev) Howarth of Las Cruces, NM. Harold will also be missed by special friend Tammy Tortorelli. Harold was also preceded in death by his brother Earl. Following his wishes, cremation has taken place and interment of the cremated remains will be with his wife, Lynnie at the Bridgeton Township Cemetery. Harold would want people to consider a donation to the Oceana County Animal Shelter or a pet shelter of your choice.
