Obituary

Harriet Elizabeth Peavey, age 91 of White Cloud and formerly of Northville, Michigan, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at her home. Harriet was born on May 3, 1926 in Battle Creek to Benjamin and Jeanette "Nettie" (Bailey) Rossman and graduated from Battle Creek High School. Harriet married Kenneth Peavey on August 25, 1945 in Angola, Indiana. Harriet worked various jobs in the Northville area until, in 1963, she started her career as a design draftswoman for the Eaton Corporation research center in Southfield until her retirement in 1981. She was proud to be one of very few women in that industry at that time. In 1971 Harriet and Kenneth purchased land on 1 Mile Road near White Cloud and began spending weekends camping at the property and continued to build PV's Resort, PV's Storage and PV's Golf which has grown over the years and continues today. Harriet had been a member of the Full Salvation Union of Northville where she had served as an Elder; had been a member of the Newaygo County Historical Society and enjoyed family genealogy; had been a member of the Friends of the White Cloud Library and enjoyed reading as well as has her own library at the resort. Harriet was also an artist and writer and authored 1 book that has not been published yet. Harriet above all, enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother to her family. Harriet is survived by her husband of 72 years, Kenneth of White Cloud; her son, Robin (Sandy) Peavey of White Cloud; daughters, Melody (David) Taylor of Muskegon; Brooke (Richard) Rayl of Northville; her grandchildren, Richard Peavey, Angela (Greg) Christiana, Kenneth Peavey, Cynthia (Jeff) Neumann, Eleanor Hill, Carmen Byberg, Richard "Rusty" (Danielle) Rayl Jr.; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Frances Roe of Battle Creek; her brother-in-law, Donald (Doris) Peavey of Haiti; several nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Patty Peavey, granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Stacey and Tom LaFleche; her siblings, Elvin Town, Fletcher Rossman, Pauline Johnson, Ruby Eberhart, Florence Felty, Dorcas Shaw. Celebration of Life Services will be held in the summer of 2018 at PV's Resort in White Cloud. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the White Cloud Library in memory of Harriet. Services are Pending Friday, February 16, 2018 Celebration of Life Services will be held in the summer of 2018 at PV's Resort. Date and time will be announced later.
