Obituary

Harry J. Splitstone, age 93, of Fremont passed away on Sunday August 10, 2014 at Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Bud was born on March 7, 1921 in Wooster to Joseph and Cora (Markle) Splitstone and married Milly Lorraine Lafever on March 6, 1944 in Angola, Indiana. He had been a postal clerk in Fremont, retiring in 1976. He was a lifetime member of the Free and Accepted Masons as well as the Disabled Veterans (DAV). Bud was an avid antique collector and had been a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church since 1949. Bud is survived by his loving wife, Milly; children, Bob (Lynda) Splitstone of Lansing; Michael Splitstone of Fremont, Kim Clayton of Virginia; and Ted (Sue) Splitstone of Fremont; 4 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Harold Splitstone and sisters, Joyce Kemperman and Beverly Smith. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening August 17, 2014 from 5 7 PM at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. Memorial services will be on Monday at 11 AM at the Fremont United Methodist Church. Interment will be in West Hesperia Cemetery. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider the American Cancer Society.
