Helen C. Barnes, age 91 and widow of Hugh Barnes, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 29, 2001. She was born on April 7, 1910, in Wexford County, Michigan, to Frank and Laura (Kingsley) Rogers and married Hugh Barnes on August 20, 1943, in Cadillac. She had worked at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1974 and attended the Holton United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter Laura (Carl) Hull of Fremont; 3 stepchildren Carl (Donna) Barnes of Whitehall, Delores (Gordon) Mayo of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Paul (Nancy) Barnes of Cadillac; 5 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 24 great--grandchildren; and 4 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, in 1971; brother Wilton Rogers; and 2 stepchildren. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 1, 2001, from the Holton United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Bremmer officiating. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.
