Helen Marcia Bell Reefman, age 95 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at the Laurels of Coldwater. Helen was born on December 11, 1927 in Morley, Michigan to Herbert and Hazel Viola (Willmer) Rice. Helen later graduated from Litchfield High School in 1945 where she was Salutatorian. She had been active in the Girl Scouts where she was Troop Leader #248 for 10 years. Helen had been active in the Newaygo County Agricultural Fair where she had been named homemaker of the year in 1983 and 1985 and for the State of Michigan in 1985. She was active in a breast cancer research study for Tamoxifen and Raloxifene for 10 years. She served on the election board of Sherman Township for 20 years and election board for the Fremont Public Schools for 12 years. She had worked at Wolverine Glove Company in Howard City, Gerber Products Company and owned and operated Bell's Cottages on Long Lake from 1952 – 1994. Helen met and married Raymond Henry Bell on July 31, 1945 in Litchfield and he preceded her in death. She later married Charles D. Reefman on March 31, 2001. Helen enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting and deer hunted well into her 80's. Helen was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. Helen is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Mary Kiester; her grandchildren, Phil Deters, Jen Deters, Mike Deters, Tim Sousa, Amanda Sousa, Christina Sousa, Frank Kiester, Chris Kiester; her great grandchildren, Jasmine Sousa, Raymond Sousa, Jamison Deters, Keagen Deters, Breanna Deters, Lily Deters, Ben Kiester, Addison Kiester; great great grandson, Owen Michael Deters; her sister, Elaine Rockey; her brother, John Rice; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Grace Deters in 2022; son, Edward "Eddie" Bell in 1997, daughter, Sally Jean Bell Sousa in 1988; sisters and brothers, Marian, Rosemary, Carol, Kathleen, Herb, and Dan.
