Obituary

Helen Kay (Hornsby) Strong, a cherished resident of Grant, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6th, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on March 28th, 1948, in Bitely, Michigan, Helen lived a life dedicated to her family and community, filled with love, warmth, and caring service to others.

Helen was a beloved daughter to her late parents, Charles and Pearl Hornsby. She was the youngest of seven siblings, all of whom preceded her in death: her brothers Ivan, Lester, Lyle, Russell, and Willis. Despite these losses, Helen's heart remained full, thanks to her close-knit family and wide circle of friends.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Karen Strong, her son, Karl Hornsby, and her sister, Vera Aiken. Helen also leaves behind her cherished granddaughter, Olivia Hornsby, who was the light of her life, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and special friends who enriched her journey.

For over 30 years, Helen shared a deep, loving bond with her significant other, Gerald R. Morton, Sr., who preceded her in death.

Helen's life was a testament to her role as a loving mother and grandmother, always prioritizing the needs and well-being of those she loved. She possessed a generous spirit and a kind heart, qualities that made her a treasured friend and confidant to many.

The family requests donations be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses as well as to the Amazing Grace Acres Church in Brohman, Michigan. Arrangements are being handled by Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont, which was entrusted with honoring Helen's memory and celebrating her beautiful life.

A Memorial Service will be held in Helen's honor on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 am at Amazing Grace Acres Church in Brohman, Michigan.

As we bid farewell to Helen Kay Strong, we remember her unwavering love and dedication to her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, and selflessness will live on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
