Helen Kathleen "Katie" Waters Simmons, age 87, of Sun City Center, Florida and formerly of Fremont and Grand Rapids, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017, in Marietta, Georgia. Katie was born on May 11, 1929, in Fremont and married Raymond G. Zwingeberg who preceded her in 1987. Katie was a registered nurse and worked for many years in the Grand Rapids area. She later married Robert C. Simmons who also has preceded her. Katie enjoyed making jewelry and stained glass, gardening, sewing, and reading.

Katie is survived by her children, Diane (Michael) Woodard of Woodstock, Georgia, Dr. Linda Fickes of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Ray Zwingeberg of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Alana Fickes, Leigha Woodard, Nicole Woodard, and Olivia Woodard; step-daughters, Robyn Easom and Becky Bowling; and brother, Dr. Lee Waters of Bay Shore, Michigan. Katie was preceded by husbands, Raymond and Robert; sister, Marion Ludlow; and brother, James Waters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont with Pastor David Dickinson from the Fremont Christian Church-Disciples of Christ officiating. There will be visitation prior to the service starting at 9:30 AM. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may share memories and condolences at www.crandellfh.com.
