Helen L. Sheppard, age 91 of Fremont, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Mercy General Health Partners in Muskegon. Helen was born on October 6, 1920 in Lincoln Township to George and Minnie (Seymour) Hoyt and later married Kenneth Sheppard on September 5, 1952 in Fremont. Kenneth preceded her in death on January 7, 1978. Helen graduated from Fremont High School and has been a lifelong resident of Fremont. Helen was a cashier at Gerber Products Company cafeteria in Fremont from 1970 until her retirement in 1985. Helen was a charter member of the Fremont Wesleyan Church and loved to read her Bible. Helen enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. Helen is survived by her children, Kent (Cindy) Sheppard of Fremont; Gary (Karen) Sheppard of Fremont; her stepchildren, James (Mary Ann) Sheppard of Ludington; Kay Zeilesch of Florida; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Carol (Don) Dawson of Fremont; Sara (Chad) Mast and their children, Blake and Wyatt of Delton, Michigan; Lance Corporal Jeffery (Sami) Sheppard of Fremont (Jeffery is currently serving with the United States Marine Corp in Afghanistan) and Tyler Sheppard of Fremont. She was preceded in death by her sister, Georgia and by her brothers, Orlo, Harvey, Charles, and Bill. VISITATION : Friday, December 2, 2011 from 5-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11am at the Dayton Center Wesleyan Church 2192 S Comstock Ave Fremont with Pastor Terry Hansen presiding. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Dayton Center Wesleyan Church.
