Obituary

Helen Stankus, age 94 of White Cloud, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Helen was born on February 15, 1917 in Chicago to Michael and Frances (Rejowski) Dzialo. She married Frank G. Stankus on July 31, 1954 in Chicago, who preceded her in death on October 4, 1997. They moved to White Cloud in 1954 from Chicago. Helen worked as a telephone operator in Chicago and then as an operator for Bell Telephone in Fremont until the telephone office was closed. She worked in the promotions department at Gerber Products Company and then at Gerber Life Insurance Company until her retirement in 1982. Helen was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud where she served as Sacristan for many years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and making crafts for the church bazaars. Helen is survived by her children, Mary (Allen) Berkowitz of Phoenix, Arizona; Francis (Lynn) Stankus of Fremont; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; stepson, Frederick (Gisella) Stankus of Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters and stepson, Edward A. Stankus. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home - White Cloud Chapel with Rosary Services on Wednesday at 7:30pm at the funeral home. Mass of Resurrection Services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 11am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud with interment in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in White Cloud. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the St. Joseph Catholic Altar Society for memorial contributions in memory of Helen.
