Helen L. VanAndel, age 95 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Helen was born on February 4, 1921 in Carlinville, Illinois to John and Mary (Markfus) Kerstein and moved to the White Cloud area at an early age. Helen married William VanAndel on August 25, 1946 in Reed City and he preceded her in death in 1980. Helen moved to the Fremont area in 1974 and had been a Certified Food Service Director at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont until her retirement after 17 years. Helen was a member of the Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Fremont where she had been active in the Helping Hand Society and book club; had been involved in the Newaygo County Senior Companion program for 9 years and enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Helen is survived by her children, Paul (Janet) Keehl of Fremont; Martha Tyler of Montague; William (Judy) VanAndel of White Cloud; Mary (Ben Sikkink) VanAndel of Holland; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Tyler and her 6 brothers and 4 sisters. VISITATION : Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 9am 11:00am at the Trinity Christian Reformed Church (539 E Pine Street Fremont MI 49412) FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday at 11am at the Trinity Christian Reformed Church.
