Herbert W. Doege, age 67 of White Cloud and formerly of Grand Rapids and Detroit, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2001 following injuries he received in a plane accident. He was born on January 28, 1934 in Grand Rapids to Hugo and Lena (Bartz) Doege and had worked for the General Electric Company for over 30 years as supervisor in the major appliance division in Grand Rapids and later in Detroit. After his retirement, from General Electric, he moved to the White Cloud area where he has been a resident for the past 1 years. He was a passionate airplane flyer, a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association; the Troy Flying Club and the Newaygo Sportsmans Club. He is survived by his daughters, Linda K. Anderanin of Forest Park, Illinios; Laurie (Michael) Filipiak of Ann Arbor; grand daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Filipiak of Ann Arbor; his brother, Walter (Lynn) Doege of Prescott, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by a sister, Aletha Smith and brother Albert Doege. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 27, 2001 from the Christ Lutheran Church in White Cloud with Rev. Richard Hoogerhyde presiding with interment in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids.
