Reverend Hiram L. Dukes, age 85 of White Cloud, passed away Monday, March 4, 2002 at the Spectrum Health Services Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. He was born on January 16, 1917 the son of Luke and Mittee (Lindsey) Dukes in Griffin, Georgia and married Lucille Edwards on July 8, 1977. He had started his career in the ministry in 1955 at a church in Chicago, Illinois and also had been the minister at the New Bethel Baptist Church in White Cloud for a number of years after his retirement from the Ford Motor Company. Rev. Dukes was also a member of the Glory of the Latter House Ministries, formerly People's Baptist Church in White Cloud. He is survived by his wife, Lucille of White Cloud; nieces and nephews, Inwood & Theresa Collins; Connie Stanton; Winnie Lee; Wendell, Kirby and Kenneth Collins; Anna Gardner; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tommy & Thelma Rice; Willie & Dorothy Bettis; Maxine Johnson; Alice Mae Smith; David & Barbara Jones; Ira Johnson; Willie D. & Lillie Mae Brown; Martha Johnson; Josie Mae Johnson; Samuel "Sam" Johnson; and spiritual children, Georgia Hampton; Frank & Irene Green; Don & Shirley Hicks; James & Sister Okia Strickland and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Nicey; Attia Mae; Elnora; and Alma Dukes - Jackson; brothers, Willie and Charlie Dukes Funeral Services were held on Saturday, March 9, 2002 from the Glory of the Latter House Ministries, formerly People's Baptist Church in White Cloud with Evangelist Irene Green presiding as Mistress of Ceremony and Rev.
