Honorable Richard J. Farabaugh, age 77 of Fremont, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at the St. Vincents Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Richard was born on April 7, 1933 in Detroit to Modestus and Hilda (Bishop) Farabaugh and grew up in the Detroit area. Richard met and later married Mary Carol Libs on August 5, 1961 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Mary Carol preceded him in death on January 2, 2005. Richard graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Education and later continued his education at the Detroit College of Law where he graduated in 1970. Richard started his career in law as an assistant prosecutor for Muskegon County from 1970-1972, later became assistant prosecutor in Newaygo County from 1972-1976. From 1977 1978, he owned his own private practice in Fremont and was appointed as the 78th District Court Judge in 1978, a position he held until his retirement in 1995. Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War and also served in the United States Coast Guard, Merchant Marine during the early 1960s. Richard was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church and member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his daughters, Leah A. (Bruce) Cady of Vero Beach, Florida; Mary Pat (James) Cooper of Zionsville, Indiana; Amy E. (Patrick) Whitley of Fishers, Indiana; his grandchildren, Rachel Cooper, Nicholas Cooper, Ryan Whitley, Jackson Whitley; his sisters and brothers, Katherine Ann Cross of Ft. Myers, Florida; Earl (Dorothy) Farabaugh of Pensacola, Florida; Jeanne (Steve) Comins of Waterford; Michael (Ruth) Farabaugh of Livonia; Patricia Farbaugh of Shelby Township, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Farabaugh. VISITATION : Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 5-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with SCRIPTURE SERVICES at 7:45 at the funeral home. MASS OF RESSURRECTION : Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11am at the All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : All Saints Catholic Church or American Heart Association.
