Howard N. Rea, age 68 of White Cloud, formerly of Pontiac, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at his home. Howard was born on April 8, 1940 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Howard and Phyllis (Penney) Rea. Howard had worked as a supervisor in the computer division of the Ford Motor Credit Corporation for 30 years until his retirement. Howard met and later married Bette Thornton on August 30, 1988 in Las Vegas and together they moved to the White Cloud area in 1993 from Pontiac. Howard was member of the NRA, a Numismatist and coin enthusiast. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Bette of White Cloud; his children, Chad (Sue) Rea of Clarkston; Michelle (Richard) Doherty of Shepherd, Michigan; stepchildren, Shawnda Thornton of Scottville; Doug Thornton of Waterford; his grandchildren, Ryan, Travis, Lexi, and Shelby; his mother, Phyllis Rea of Royal Oak; his sister, Joy Bishop of Las Cruces, New Mexico; his brothers-in-law Rick (Dianne) Alverson of White Cloud; Bill Alverson of East Lansing; Tim Alverson of East Lansing; He was preceded in death by his son, Shayne Rea; his father, Howard Rea; his brother, Gary Rea. Memorial Services were held on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with a time of visiting with the family from 1-2pm at the funeral home.
