Inez G. Charles, age 96 of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Haslett, Michigan, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Riverfront Nursing Center in Bradenton, Florida. Inez was born on October 9, 1911 in Good Thunder, Minnesota to George and Gertrude (Jewell) Hawes who had lived in White Cloud. She met and later married Raymond L. Charles on September 17, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana. Raymond preceded her in death. Inez had been a resident of the Haslett area for many years where she was a supervisor for the State of Michigan Treasury Department until her retirement in 1975. After retirement, Inez moved to Oklahoma and later moved to Florida in 1989. Inez enjoyed crocheting, tatting, sewing and loved making dolls at Christmas time for the less fortunate children or children in foster homes. She was a member of the Island Baptist Church on Anna Maria Island, Florida. She is survived by her sons, Robert L. Charles of Palmetto, Florida; James (Debbie) Charles of Eaton Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren Mark Cross of California; Cynthia Charles of Charlotte; Raymond Charles of Eaton Rapids; Jennie Charles of East Lansing; James (Raimey) Charles of Yukon, Oklahoma; Wayne Charles with the United States of Army; Chris Charles of Frederick, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Rocky Slaght of Charlotte; Skye Slaght of Lansing; Dustin (Catie) Slaght of Lansing; Scott Ehl of Charlotte; great great grandchildren, Elaina Charles of Yukon, Oklahoma; Saige Slaght of Lansing; Daltyn Slaght of Lansing; Madelin Charles of Yukon, Oklahoma. Preceded in death by husband, Raymond in 1954; her children, Sally Ann in 1935; Shirley Ann in 1936; James Allen in 1937; William Ray in 1988; Betty Jane in 1989; several brothers and sisters, Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 1pm at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
