Obituary

Brandt, Iola Mae Iola Mae Brandt, age 79 of North Muskegon and formerly of Fremont , passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003 at her home following a long illness. She was born on February 20, 1924 in Waurika , Oklahoma to Miller and Annie (Bone) Sparkman and married Jack G. Brandt on May 18, 1944 in Watertown , New York . Jack preceded her in death on January 24, 1996 . Iola had been a longtime resident of the area where she had been a legal secretary for Russell Price Attorney until her retirement. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist and had been an active volunteer at the First Church of Christ Scientist Reading Room in Fremont . She enjoyed spending time with her 5 grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Frances A. (Paul) Schamber of Shelby; Jack Gard (Beth) Brandt Jr. of North Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Jonathon, Nathan, Brian Schamber; Kodi, Cassidy Brandt; her sister, Lockie Owen of Gainsville, Texas; her brothers, R.C. Sparkman of Pampa, Texas; Woodrow (Mary Lou) Sparkman of Haywood, California; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Van) Stewart and Bonnie (Bob) Passinault both of Muskegon. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred and Bernice and brothers, Miller and A.J. Funeral memorial services were held on Thursday, June 26, 2003 from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Mrs. Merrigail VanWyck presiding. Friends are asked to consider the New Hope Community Church Food Pantry at 244 S. 79th Avenue Shelby , Michigan 49445 for memorial contributions.
