Irvin E. Cruzan Sr., age 83 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Heartland Health Care Center in Whitehall. Irv was born on September 20, 1930 in White Cloud to Ira and Elsie (Brannon) Cruzan. Irv joined the United States Navy where he served for 20 years from 1948 until 1968 during the Korean War and Vietnam War until his retirement. After his return to White Cloud, Irv moved to Fremont and started Irvs Upholstery and later became Cruzan Manufacturing which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1990. Irv married Aida Guzman on August 15, 1953 in San Juan, Puerto Rico and she preceded him in death on October 28, 2005. Irv was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church where he had been active in the Knights of Columbus and had served as Grand Knight in 1995, was a member of the NCVA and Navel Crepito Logie Association. Irv enjoyed fishing and hunting and had enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Irv is survived by his children, Irvin E. (Vera) Cruzan Jr. of Fremont; Donna (Bruce) Albright of Rockford; 6 grandchildren, Kori (Josh) Yurrick; Jeremy Albright, Taylor Albright, Travis (Sylvia) Cruzan; Mitchell Cruzan; Nichole Cruzan; 4 great grandchildren, Brooke and Aubrey Cruzan; Colin and Brendan Yurrick; his brothers and sisters, Marvin (Jackie) Cruzan of White Cloud; Doris Peck of Colorado; Marvel Krumbach of Georgia; Harvey (Carol) Cruzan of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Shick and brothers, Donald Cruzan and Marion Cruzan. VISITATION : Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 5-7pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. MASS OF RESURRECTION: Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11am at the All Saints Catholic Church with Father Roc Majalla presiding with military rites given at the church by the Newaygo V.F.W.
