Irving "Irv" F. Crawford, age 70 of Holton and Baldwin passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. He was born on August 1, 1930 in Holton to Francis and Alice (Robinson) Crawford and married Barbara J. Schrader in 1955 in Fremont. Irv started his career in the grocery industry as a manger for Kroger and then started Crawford Foods, which he owned and operated in White Cloud from 1968 till 1978; Crawford Foods in Baldwin from 1978 until 1990 and Crawford Foods in Kaleva from 1981 until his retirement in 1990. He attended the Holton United Methodist Church and was a United States Army Veteran where he served during the Korean Conflict. Irv was a member of the Baldwin V.F.W Peacock Post #5315, a former member of the White Cloud and Baldwin Rotary and Baldwin Lions Club. He had enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf and most recently reading history books. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Holton; his sons, Brian (Kari) Crawford; Brent Crawford of White Cloud; Brad (Connie) Crawford of Paris, Michigan; Bruce (Joddie) Crawford of Fremont; 12 grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Erika, Tonia; Tricia; Jeannine; Joseph, Jessica; Cherish; Jacob; Joshua; Zachary; great grandson, Parker; brother, Roger (Susan) Crawford of Newnan, Georgia; sisters, Carol (Don) Clay of Ada; Laurel (John) Copley of Bridgeville, Delaware; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, DuMonte Crawford in 2000. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 13, 2001 from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in Fremont with Rev. Ken Bremer of the Holton United Methodist Church presiding with military rites given by the Holton American Legion Post 397 at the Clark Cemetery in Fremont.
