Obituary

Ivan Dale Wallis, age 78 of White Cloud, passed away Monday, July 14, 2003 at the Veteran's Home in Grand Rapids. He was born on October 13, 1924 in White Cloud and married Lois M. Whitsell on December 30, 1944 in Muskegon. Dale had worked as a maintenance worker at the DuPont Chemical Company in Montague for 15 years until his retirement. He was the one of the founders and first President of the Fremont Lake Association and his goal at that time was to stop the dumping of commercial and residential waste material into the lake. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud and was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Navy as a radio operator in the Submarine division. He is survived by his wife, Lois of White Cloud; his son, Steven D. Wallis of White Cloud; his daughter, Carla D. Wallis of Seattle, Washington; 2 grandchildren, Brenton J. Wallis and Holly M. Wallis; his sisters, Ruby Anderson; Doris Anderson; brother-in-law, Harold Anderson; sister-in-laws, Arlene Wallis; Gloria Schmidt; Sondra (Duane) Knoll; Margo (John) Hughes. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Myron Wallis; Hubert Wallis; sisters, Iona Kirkbride; Ruth Taylor; Imogene Collins. Funeral Mass Services were held on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at 11:00am from the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud with Rev. Father Tony Russo presiding with interment in the St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery in Brunswick . Arrangements by Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. www.crandellfh.com
