Gray, Jack H. Jack H. Gray, age 80 of Croton, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Jack was born on June 17, 1924 in Chicago to Frank William and Marie (Condgon) Gray and soon moved to Pentwater, Michigan where he grew up and graduated from Pentwater High School in 1942. He joined the United States Army Air Corps after graduation and served as a Second Lieutenant Bomber Pilot. After returning from the service, Jack met and married Joyce Schrumpf on September 4, 1948 in Pentwater. Jack and Joyce later moved to Wyoming, Michigan where Jack became a truck driver and was employed by Wolverine Express Trucking Company for 34 years until his retirement in 1978. He has been a resident of the Croton area for the past 34 years. Jack was a charter and life member of the Pentwater VFW, Post #6015 and served as their first full time commander. He was also a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce of Croton; his sons, Mac C. Gray of Croton; Michael S. Gray of Fremont; Jack L. (Teresa) Gray of Walker; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank William and Marie Gray and by his brother, Frank William Gray Jr. Funeral memorial services were held on Saturday, February 12, 2005 from the Pentwater VFW, Post #6015 with the post chaplain presiding.
