A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Jack Lee Pontius, age 92 of Twin Lake, MI on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Twin Lake Community Church at 11:00 am. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 .m.

Jack passed away on September 11, 2023 at Corewell Gerber Hospital in Fremont, MI. Jack was born on August 2, 1931 in Muskegon to George Milford and Gertrude (Glover) Pontius. After graduation from high school, Jack joined the US Air Force where he served during the Korean War in the flight simulation area of the military until his honorable discharge. He returned to the Muskegon area and married Carmen Bezaury. Carmen preceded him in death on March 29, 1996.

Jack had worked for Capital Airlines and Zephyr in data entry departments and later was appointed to Postmaster at the Twin Lake Post Office until his retirement. He and Carmen purchased the land dubbed the Funny Farm and at various times nurtured horses, Huskies, chickens, and rabbits. He was a collector of many things and loved to share his stories with others willing to listen. He had a unique sense of humor that many found entertaining. He most recently became interested in the Twin Lake Historic Society, sharing his memories with its members.

Jack is survived by his son, Michael J. (Ann) Pontius of Holland; stepdaughters Susan K. (John) Payne of Kalamazoo; and Laura A. Strong of Florida. Also, by his sisters, Karen Kowalski, and Janice Bhavsar. Jack leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were stepdaughters, Billie L. Omland; Barabra J. Prouse and granddaughter, Heather L. Payne.
