Obituary

Jack L. Tittle, age 89, of Fremont passed away peacefully with his family at his side on February 14, 2020. Jack was born on May 19, 1930 in Defiance, Ohio, the son of Melvin D. and Violet M. (Lang) Tittle. He was preceded in death by both parents, sister Sue Frame (Richard), brother Thomas Tittle (Shirley), and sister Nancy Fisher (Kenneth survives). Jack served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he attended Jackson Junior College and the University of Michigan, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He remained a life-long fan of University of Michigan athletics. Shortly after graduating from the University, Gerber Products Company hired Jack. While at Gerber he had the opportunity to participate in the installment of Gerber's first computers, the development of their child care centers, and had oversight of the Gerber transport fleets. He retired from Gerber Products as the General Manager of the Services Group following 32 years of employment. Jack had a very active social life and enjoyed a variety of sports but especially enjoyed fishing, swimming, tennis and golf. Jack participated in Fremont civic affairs where he served on the Gerber Memorial Hospital Board, the Fremont City Council, and various city commissions. He was a Mason and a charter member of the Fremont Jr. Chamber of Commerce. Jack married Lois Andrews and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage before Lois passed away in 1993. They had two daughters: Deborah Tittle (Alex VanHemert-deceased, Robert Kraley) and Janet Brewster (Thomas) who gave them two granddaughters: Brooke VanHemert and Elizabeth Geers (Eric). Jack was blessed with great–granddaughters Annabelle VanHemert, and Ava, Addilyn and Amelia Geers. In 1996 Jack joined in marriage with Rosemary (Moss) who survives. Jack often mentioned he was so blessed to find two wonderful women to share his life. With their marriage, Jack gained three step-daughters: Mary Lois Zahrt (Thomas), Elizabeth Moss, Melissa Moss and step-son Thomas Moss (Kathleen Linney); and loving grandchildren Thomas, Marilyn and Zachary Zahrt. A private memorial is planned and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Jack had requested that anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution, please consider the Fremont Area Community Foundation for the Jack and Rosemary Tittle Fund. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many friends and community members who came to visit Jack and offer words of comfort during his transition.
