Jackie Leroy "Jack" Balcom, age 73 of Fremont, formerly of Muskegon, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at his home. Jack was born on June 21, 1947 in Muskegon to Ralph Russell and Fredia Eloise (Williams) Balcom. Jack was drafted into the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge as a Specialist 4th Class. Jack returned to Muskegon where he became a Certified Auto Mechanic and worked for Mattson Auto and later owned and operated Jack's Place for transmission repair in Muskegon and then worked at various locations as an auto mechanic until his retirement. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the casino, working on cars, tinkering at home, camping at Blue Lake, model cars and going to rodeos. Jack was well known for his sense of humor and seemed to always be smiling or laughing and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jack met the love of his life, Tris Rushing in 1989 and they spent the next 28 years together which they both felt was the best times of their lives until Tris passed away on July 21, 2017. Jack is survived by his children and grandchildren, daughter - Kimberly (Tony) Del Percio and children, Caely, Aubrey, Benjamin; son - Collin (Annie) Balcom and children, Kayla, Caden, Alex, Trevor; son - Aaron Rushing and children, KayC, Vanessa, Joseph; daughter - Melissa (Michael) Howard and children, Onamarie, Dion, Malayna,; daughter - Ariah (Brian) Dunbar and children, Ava, Brett and Zander; daughter - Autumn (Brent) Witteveen and children, Carley and Cameron; his great grandchildren, Zoey, Kortnee, Elias, Samuel, Finnley, Cooper; his brothers and sisters, Roger (Shelly) Balcom; Joyce (Rick Tardani) Balcom; Jerry Balcom; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
