James W. Burgess, age 77 of White Cloud, formerly of Wyoming, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. James was born on May 6, 1938 in Barboursville, West Virginia to Lonnie Jackson and Sarah (Henderson) Burgess and later married Joyce A. Callicoat on November 21, 1955 in Russell, Kentucky. Joyce preceded him in death on October 23, 2008. James moved to the White Cloud area in 1985 from Wyoming where he had been employed by the CSX Railroad as a machinist for 29 years until his retirement in 1995. James had served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the Croton American Legion Post #381 and Newaygo V.F.W. Sportsmans Post #4249 and the White Cloud Eagles. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and John Deere Tractors. James is survived by his children, Mitch M. (Mary) Burgess of White Cloud; Jeffrey V. (Sandy) Burgess of Grand Rapids; Donald R. (Amy) of Kentwood; Gregory A. Burgess of Grand Rapids; 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 5 brothers. VISITATION : Monday, December 7, 2015 from 1-3 and 6-8 at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel (1109 Court Street White Cloud MI) FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home. INTERMENT : Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : White Cloud United Methodist Church Food Pantry
