James Elton Dickinson, age 88 of Hesperia, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 10, 2020 following a long illness. Elton was born on the family farm in Aetna on March 14, 1932 to Ray and Ruth Naomi (Waters) Dickinson. Elton married Eleanor Elaine Horton on April 16, 1949 at the family farm in Aetna as well. Elton has been a lifelong resident of the area where he had been a self-employed builder all his life. Elton also farmed much of his life growing crops and Christmas trees and also operated a saw mill in the area for several years. Elton enjoyed hunting, fishing, and staying at his property at Indian Lake in Brohman. Later in his life, Elton found great joy in traveling to Idaho for elk hunting with his family.
Elton is survived by his wife of 71 years, Elaine of Hesperia; his children, James (Diane) Dickinson of Huntsville, Arkansas; Jerry (Lora) Dickinson of Fremont; Dennis (Janet) Dickinson of White Cloud; Diane (Joe) Lang of Hesperia; Rod Dickinson of Hesperia; Gail (James) Kittle of Hesperia; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; his brother, George (Karen) Dickinson of White Cloud; several nieces and nephews. Elton was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Kittle; his great granddaughter, Megan Dickinson; great grandson, Bo Dickinson; his sister, Lois Spaulding; sister, Margaret Gronso; and his brother, William "Bill" Dickinson.
VISITATION : Monday, July 13, 2020 from 4-6pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. PRIVATE GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be held at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; Alzheimer's Association – Greater Michigan Chapter or Spectrum Health Foundation for Spectrum Health Hospice in memory of Elton.
