Payne Jr., James Mr. James Payne, age 78, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida passed away March 18, 2010. James was born on December 12, 1931 in Kansas City, Missouri to James Payne, Sr. and Mamie Stanford Payne Hallisy. Mr. Payne was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Freeport. He worked as a Service Manager in the Automotive Industry for many years and was also self employed as an owner and operator of Sports Hobby Shop. Jim also had owned and operated the Hesperia Sport Shop and was co-owner with his wife of Heritage Realty. He enjoyed wood working, refinishing antiques, collecting and working on cars. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces serving his country in the United States Air Force. James is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years, Yvonne Payne of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; four sons, James Payne III of Twin Lake, Michigan, Steven Payne and wife Tracy of Hesperia, Michigan, Andrew Payne and wife Karen of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Dr. Alan Payne and wife Juli of Destin, Florida; one sister Norma Jean Ritter of Monee, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Dr. Carey Check-Sonnenberg and husband Michael; Kevin Payne; Bryan Payne and wife Desaree; Cameron Payne; Anastasia Payne; Makayla Payne; Jacob Payne; Nathan Payne; and Alyanna Payne; four great grandchildren, Lance Payne, Trevor Payne, Langston Payne and Madelyn Sonnenberg; his brother-in-law, Steven Barry and wife Adele; sister-in-law, Aline Horton and husband Duane; brother-in-law Frank Trombley; also survived by Randi and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Henderson. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at 11:30am at Christ The King Catholic Cemetery in Hesperia with a Memorial Mass Services at Christ The King Catholic Church in Hesperia with Rev. Father Roc Majalla presiding with scripture reading and poem offered by his niece, Kathy Sartori. Friends may consider memorial contributions to Christ The King Catholic Church in Hesperia, Hesperia Fire Department, or Bethany Christian Services. Mr. Payne wanted it noted that his health and death was a result of smoking cigarettes for many years. Arrangements by Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel.
