James Kenneth "Ken" Mudget, age 100 of Hesperia and formerly of Vanderbilt, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Ken was born on April 18, 1918 in White Cloud to Foster and Nina Mudget and graduated from White Cloud High School 1936. Ken started work at the Teledyne Continental Motors in Muskegon at an early age where he was a supervisor and later an engineer. He moved to South Carolina with Teledyne to work at facility there and then retired from Teledyne Continental while in South Carolina. After retirement Ken moved back to the Vanderbilt area and eventually moved to Hesperia. Ken was an avid conservationist and loved the Michigan outdoors where he was an advocate of the Pigeon River forest area where he assisted in planting many trees. Ken had been instrumental in building a wheelchair dock at Otsego Lake and was active with the Hart Historic District including the Mudget Cabin in Hart. While at Transitional Health Services, Ken made many jewelry items for the grade school children of Newaygo County and was known to the them as "grandpa Ken". Ken was a great storyteller and lived a colorful life throughout his 100 years. Ken is survived by his daughters, Judy Allison of Muskegon; Karen (Ted) Cole of Hesperia; 6 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his wives, Marjorie O'Neil and Alice Wingo; his son-in-law, Larry Allison; his brothers and sisters Hollis, Bob, Don, Martha and Cleo.
