James Ford Lagendyk, age 78 of White Cloud, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at his home. Jim was born on November 27, 1938, in Grand Rapids to Harold Ford and Reva Viola (Cox) Lagendyk and married Kathleen Joyce Keller on December 23, 1960 in Grand Rapids. Jim moved to Newaygo County in 1995 after his retirement as a heavy equipment operator. Jim had worked for Katerberg Trenching and also for AJ VeneKlasen Inc. Contractors. Jim enjoyed the outdoors but especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his sons and grandchildren, son Jim Steven Lagendyk and his children, Carrie Jane (Michael) Ford, Jimmy (Alison) Lagendyk, Katherine Lagendyk, Sarah Lagendyk, Jonathan Lagendyk; and son Michael (Patricia) Lagendyk and their children, Heather (Deric) Underhill and Kristofer Lagendyk; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Rosalie, Aubrynn, Knox, Aurora, and Corbin; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Lagendyk; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his step-son, Steven Keller; and brothers and sisters, Richard, Betty, Sharon, and Gene. Funeral services will be held at 4 PM, on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel with Pastor Ron Witbeck from the Resurrection Life Church in Big Rapids officiating. There will be visitation 2 hours prior to the service (2 – 4 PM) at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to Spectrum Health Hospice and Palliative Care.
